You, Me, You, Us
an album by
Spicy Dreams
Coming out March ‘23
A night of fantasy, wonder & desire. Two strangers become entangled in a delusion of love and dreams of hope, only to walk away as strangers once more…
You, Me, You, Us tells the story of two lovers and their journey towards one another as they travel inward, grow together, and ultimately, break apart.
Written over a 3-year span, the album pulls inspiration from the group members’ personal relationships to create a wholly new story that is dreamlike, yet rooted in reality.
The album is a melange of dance floor soaked grooves, Latin poetry, surrealist pop, and rock n’ roll; it’s a delectable sampler platter of what Spicy Dreams is and can be.
The Brooklyn-based group consists of Karina Fernandez (vocals), Zach Schepis (guitars), and Jorge Guarch (synths & production).
In addition to the group’s core trio, You, Me, You, Us is brought to life by contributions from Andrew Yanchyshyn (bass), Alec Gaston (keys, synths, vocals), Robbie Elder (drums, percussion), Clint Mobley (drums), and Robbie Skorge (Hammond organ).
Spicy Dreams’ sound draws from a wide range of musical influences to create something diverse, yet cohesive. Tinges of trip-hop, disco, funk, modern electronica, dance-punk, and classic rock all blend together to create something unique and new, yet surreally familiar.
The album was primarily recorded at Dimension 70 in NYC; engineered by Steve Xia (Camilla Cabello, Scott James, Cocomofo) and assisted by Nicky Young (Swizz Beatz, Trey Anastasio). The recordings were fleshed out with overdubs at Germano Studios, engineered by Andrew Yanchyshyn (J Balvin, Pop Smoke & Dua Lipa, Keith Richards, The Strokes), who also provided vocal engineering and additional production.
You, Me, You, Us was mixed by Kenta Yonesaka (Kendrick Lamar, Flaming Lips, Mac Miller, Pharrell) and mastered by Peter Denenberg (The Fugees, Alex da Kid, Spin Doctors).
